The Start of a New (Candy) Day

Let's face it, I love food. I love exploring new flavors and textures. Maybe that's part of the reason why I took on a career as a food expert. As a dietitian, I try to emphasize the idea of "eating in moderation" to my patients, family, friends, etc., as a way of life, instead of "going on a diet". Food should be a good experience...not a "means of survival". As a grocery shopper, I am constantly analyzing food labels to determine what is healthy to eat. But everyone knows, when you're stuck in the check-out line at a grocery store, you are BOMBARDED by rows of candy bars, gum, suckers, and more.

I LOVE to shop at Wal-Mart. I probably frequent that store at least three times a week. Since I find myself in a check-out line more than I find myself sleeping most days, I like to spend my precious time examining the candy selections while waiting for the woman in front of me to put her two buggy loads of groceries on the conveyor belt to be rung up.
Here's where my challenge comes into play:
While standing in line to purchase my groceries one day, I decided...why not try every piece of candy made? I mean, as long as it's in moderation, it would be an interesting project. I will go ahead and admit that I have tried a few candy bars before this blog was even a thought. However, I will backtrack and incorporate those into my challenge. I want to try a new type of candy each day. I can't put an end date on this blog because, to be quite honest, I have no idea how much candy is out there. I will just take it a day at a time. I do, however, want to start this challenge by trying the famous Werther's Originals, my dad's personal favorite. So if you want, try to follow along with me on my quest, and if you have any ideas for candy that I haven't tried yet, I would appreciate the input! Here goes........
