New Styles.

Day 44: Reese's Fast Break.
Reese's is coming out with all varieties of candies now. It's pretty interesting. Awesome combination!!! Chocolate, peanut butter, and nougat! How did they come up with this? I like this bar. The chocolate is soft, so your teeth sink right through it straight to the peanut butter top and nougat bottom. There isn't enough peanut butter in it. I like the actual cups better. The nougat and peanut butter are smooth and flow together nicely. This is definitely easier to eat than peanut butter cups because you don't have paper to remove around the bar like you do the cups. It is a good bar overall.

Don't Lay A Finger On My...

Day 43: Butterfinger.
I miss the Simpson commercials with the classic line "Don't Lay A Finger On My Butterfinger". Those were good commercials. The butterfinger has always been a good choice, just not my favorite. The inside of the bar is crunchy toffee. It has peanut butter flavor in it too. The description on the front illustrates this candy bar perfectly....crispety, crunchety, peanut-buttery. The smooth chocolate covering makes the whole candy bar work together.

The name says it all.

Day 42: Thingamajig.
Who wouldn't want to eat something called a Thingamajig? It's chocolate-y. It's crunchet-y. It's peanut butter-y. I like the crunchiness of the cocoa crisps in it. It makes me think of one of my favorite combinations....chocolate ice cream with Rice Krispies. You get the sweet chocolate flavor with the crunchy texture from the krispies. There is a thin layer of peanut butter at the top of the candy bar, adding a hint of heaven to seal the deal. This is a good candy bar.

Peppermint Patty.

Day 41: York.
This looks like one big, dark chocolate piece of cow dung. Figuratively speaking....(Reggie, you get this). I don't like chocolate with mint, but I HAVE to try this....only for this blog. You have to actually bite into this bar...it isn't going to melt in your mouth. You barely get to taste the chocolate before you are bombarded by mint flavor. Ugh, I just can't do this. Leave the mint flavor out! My friends love these...I guess I'll leave them for my friends. I don't even wanna try a second bite. It's refreshing, don't get me wrong. But I still...don't...like...it.

This is for Tiff.

Day 40: Bottle Caps.
My sis-in-law, T, wanted me to try these! She got super excited when I bought these. I've never had Bottle Caps. This is weird...I just noticed the flavors on the front of the package. I thought they would be fruity, like ever other piece of candy. These are actually soda pop flavors. We'll see how this goes. Okay, so they're little chalky candies like Sweetarts. They have "bottle caps" written across them. They can be chewed up, and they turn into powder once they break up in your mouth. I can't tell what flavor I'm about to put in my mouth. I only know what it is when I start tasting it. I don't think I like the cola and root beer flavors. Definitely not the root beer flavor. Ugh. The cherry flavor is good. I guess you just have to pick the right flavors.

Ice cream.

Day 39: Hershey's Cookies'n'Creme.
I've eaten cookies n creme ice cream before, but not the bar. It doesn't look appetizing. I'm not really big about the ice cream. It tastes like white chocolate with bits of oreo cookie in it. Since I don't like the cream inside of oreo cookies, I don't really like this bar. I like the bits of cookie, but it's more cream than cookie bits. I don't think I like "creamy" or "milky" textures and flavors. I wish it could just be called Hershey's Cookies. That's it. Just cookies.

Can a Rainbow be SOUR?

Day 38: Skittles Sour.
Okay, first of all, be careful when opening the package. I think I flung some salt or other burning substance into my eye. Ouch. Whoa, I don't think I had the right mindset before putting this into my mouth. It spun me for a loop! It is SOUR! Once you get through the first few seconds of toe-cringing sourness, you get to the actual skittle. Then it's all good from there. The skittles are fruity and delicious. You definitely just have to trudge through that first WOW-ness of sour. Then you're in.

THE STARS

Day 37: Milky Way.
The chocolate coating is sweet and smooth. You can easily sink your teeth into this candy bar. Then you hit the caramel and nougat, yummy. The candy bar is soft, smooth, and chewy. But not a stick-in-your-teeth chewy. A relaxing chewy. I never really chose this candy bar. I would always choose ones with nuts in them. But if I just want something sweet and silky, I know where to look. It's name fits it well....Milky Way.

Better

Day 36: Red Hots.
I found the ones I wanted! I like the Hot Tamales, but I wanted the flavor to be wrapped up in something harder. So I am going to enjoy these. These Red Hots are about the size of M&M's, so they are too overwhelming with flavor when you put them in your mouth. They aren't really very hot. I would say they are more mild. I would like to rename these Red Milds. Wait, that name doesn't sound as good as Red Hots. Nevermind. You have to let these sit in your mouth. You aren't going to be able to bite into them. They are extremely hard. I love the cinnamon flavor in them. It tastes like a basket of potpourri is floating around in my mouth. Wait, now that it's getting to the end of the candy's life, I am able to chew through it. But it definitely takes a while. These are awesome. I will consume this whole box I'm sure.

Caramel Lo!

Day 35: Caramello.
I remember these bars as one of the other bars I used to sell in softball when I was a kid. These sold really fast because a lot of people liked them! Since I was never a big caramel buff, I never ate them. The bar is actually four squares connected together which makes it easier to eat. I broke off one square to try it, and the square has the word Caramello written across it. How cute! Caramel is already running out of the side of it as I broke it off the other squares. The chocolate is firm, so it doesn't just melt in your mouth. You have to actually bite into it to get to the caramel. The caramel is runny! It is really liquidy. The taste is good with the combination of chocolate and smooth caramel. I would eat this again if I had to.

Bertie's Fave.

Day 34: Mike and Ike.
So my boss, Bertido, loves Mike & Ike's. I think I may have eaten them before, but I'm not sure. So let me try. They look like horse pills, but colorful and happy. They are very chewy, and they flavors burst forth right when you bite into them. Yet again, these are that type of candy that stick in your teeth. So of course I'm not too fond of them. They are soft and tasty though.

Who Hasn't Tried Em?

Day 33: Pixy Stix.
Pixy Stix. Who hasn't tried these? Pixy Stix have always been a fun candy....just pour the powder in your mouth from the powder stick. How cool!!! The power is extremely soft when you pour it in your mouth. I'm trying the blue flavor right now. The pack says the blue flavor is Maui Punch. I just figured it was blue raspberry. Either way, the flavor is good. But I don't think I really like these. It gives me the impression that I'm just dumping pure sugar into my mouth, which is probably exactly what I'm doing. They are fun to add to this experiment, but I'm not really big on eating straight sugar. They're still awesome in my heart though.

Baked Beans as Candy?

Day 32: Boston Baked Beans.
I've never thought these were appealing in any way. The name of them just makes them sound quite delicious...if they were gonna be served up beside some Boston butt and potato salad for the 4th of July. Otherwise, a candy selection? I'm not sure about it. The peanut inside is good, of course. But the candy coating is like crackly and weird in my mouth. The coating is like straight sugar. I would love these better if they were covered in chocolate. The candy coating just doesn't do it for me. I don't even know how to explain the coating. It's just like this sweet, crystalline coat of sugar that crumbles up in your mouth when you bite into the candy. Don't like it.

Twizz Bizz.

Day 31: Twizzlers.
I like sour flavored straw-shaped candy, but I've never been a Twizzler person. I picked strawberry because who can go wrong with that flavor? I like the texture of these, but this flavor is NASTY. I am cringing while eating these. If they were flavored like something tropical and tossed in some salt/sour flavor crystals, I'd definitely like them better. I like the twisted licorice feel to them though. Flavor has failed me.

I never mint to try these.

Day 30: Junior Mints.
I like the shape of these little guys. They look like the stones that you use when you play the game Mancala. Which I used to LOVE. Now I want to play that game. The chocolate exterior is dark and thin. The candy is extremely soft, like it starts to melt right when you put it in your mouth. Then you dive into the mint interior. I'm sorry, I just don't like mint with chocolate. I am beginning to realize that I'm a candy snob. The mint center is really soft and creamy, and the two flavors work well together...if only I liked them together. Overall, it leaves a refreshing taste in your mouth. But I'd rather have a peppermint.

Sun Eggs.

Day 29: LEMONHEAD.
The package for Lemonheads is always so bright and joyful! These are just happy candies! The flavor isn't really distinct when you first put them in your mouth. They're kind of hard too, not easy to bite into. Once you're able to bite a little way into them, you get the major kick of lemon flavor. Although you taste lemon, the candy isn't sour like you would expect. It is tangy and lemony, but not sour. Once you start getting to the end of it, the candy gets harder. You definitely shouldn't try biting into it at this point, it'll break your teeth. Just let the rest soak up in your mouth. It turns sweet again, so it just can mellow out for a minute or two until it dissolves completely.

Little Guys.

Day 28: Runts.
These are hard little candies. You really just have to suck on them a while. They have a sweet flavor with a artificial fruity undertone. Once you're a few seconds into it, it gets semi-powdery and you can start biting into it. Then the final part is powdery. I like how some of them look like they're shaped like hearts. Although I think the shapes are supposed to be strawberries and apples. I'd like to continue thinking they are hearts. This is a sweet candy, if you like candies that are just fruity, powdery, and sweet. Nothing really exciting about them to me.

hOt HoT hOt

Day 27: Hot Tamales.
I used to hate hot, cinnamon-y flavored foods. Like Big Red. And Hot Tamales. Good thing my taste buds matured. I would be missing out on some great stuff! The flavor of these is hot and cinnamon-y, so I like them. However, I don't like that they're chewy like jelly beans. I would rather have them in a hard candy. This chewy stuff is getting stuck in my teeth which I'm not into. The flavor is spot-on, but the chewy-stickiness isn't my favorite. Good try though.
